Spirit Often Speaks Through Symbols
Symbols are an important part of every culture on the planet. We are surrounded by symbols. We interpret many of those symbols without even realizing we are doing so. But when it comes to divining the symbolic meanings of the tarot deck, we can become lost in the confusion of tradition and deeper esoteric knowledge. What a particular symbol means to a religious scholar and what the same image evokes in the average person can be vastly different. As I’ve stated in previous articles, the key to reading the tarot is to develop your own intuitive cues by way of meditating on the symbols, images, colors, and numbers. One has to be brave to depart from tradition and trust their own instinct. But that is precisely what psychic development is all about: learning to trust your own higher wisdom.
Have you ever had a dream that made you feel like some higher power was trying to tell you something? That is a sure sign that your Higher Self is indeed trying to communicate wisdom to you. But how do you interpret a dream that seems so kooky and unnatural? Some dreams are disjointed and make no sense at all. But these same dreams can be filled with strange people, numbers, colors, and symbols. It is how you interpret those symbols, colors, and numbers that help you realize your psychic potential. You may reach for a dream dictionary and look up the key words to these symbols and colors, but those definitions may not match the way your Higher Self chooses to communicate ideas to you. In fact, those definitions can be way off base.
So, what can you do to find answers? You begin a journey that helps you determine what symbols mean to you personally. For example, what do you think of when you see a coin in a dream? Most likely, you will say money. But what if this coin doesn’t fit within the monetary system where you live? What if this coin looks like something from another era? What if the coin has an odd, bright color on it? Is it the coin your Higher Self wants you to focus on, or the color? It can be either, or both. It can be a blending of the two meanings, which make up a whole new meaning.
Keep a journal of ideas and dreams so that you can log your thoughts and perceptions of what colors and symbols mean to you. Soon you will realize that you are on the path to self-discovery.
